YAC Planned Virtual National Prevention Week

Pre-COVID-19, we had some awesome in-school activities planned, but we have since moved everything virtual! Our two Youth Advisory Council groups (serving D211 and Elk Grove High School) have been hard at work for the past few weeks, developing our virtual National Prevention Week activities. We couldn’t be more proud and thankful to have such amazing youth leaders in our community!

Our two Youth Advisory Council groups (serving D211 and Elk Grove High School) have been hard at work for the past few weeks, developing our virtual National Prevention Week activities.

This year’s daily health themes include; Preventing Prescription Drug and Opioid Misuse, Preventing Underage Drinking and Alcohol Misuse, Preventing Illicit Drug Use and Youth Marijuana Use, Preventing Youth Tobacco Use (E-Cigarettes and Vaping) and Preventing Suicide.

The YAC virtual activities addressed all of the stated health themes by (1) developing a podcast (Inter-Connected), and (2) increasing engagement on social media with positive youth development and prevention videos and posts.

Check out the YAC Twitter pages to view the YAC’s videos! @EGHS_YAC and @yacd211

Stay connected with our National Prevention Week virtual programming and social media posts until the end of May 2020!
