Schaumburg, Palatine, 

and Hoffman Estates

Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Palatine; total population to be served is 194,679.

Target Population: 14 - 18 year olds in High School District 211

Substances to be addressed: marijuana, tobacco (e-cigarettes/vaping), & opioids

Goal #1

Establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, public and private non-profit agencies, as well as federal, state, local, and tribal governments to support the efforts of community coalitions working to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth. 

Objective 

Increase sector participation in the coalition’s activities by 95%. 8 out of 12 sectors will be present at each of the 5 coalition meetings by September 29, 2019, as measured by sign-in sheets and minutes. 

 

Goal #2 

Reduce substance abuse among youth and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults by addressing the factors in a community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse.

Objective 1 

Decrease the 30-day marijuana use rate of 10th and 12th graders in D211 from 14.25% in 2016 to 12.5% by June 30, 2020

Objective 2 

Decrease the 30-day e-cigarette use rate of 10th and 12th graders in D211 from 13% in 2016 to 11% by June 30, 2020

Objective 3 

Decrease the 30-day opioid use rate of 10th and 12th graders in D211 from $5 in 2016 to 2.5% by June 30, 2020
