Fentanyl Education & Resources


Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. Illegally made fentanyl is a growing threat in the U.S. and is a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses. Learn more about fentanyl.

Fentanyl is involved in more deaths of Americans under 50 than any other cause of death, including heart disease, cancer, and all other accidents.

 

Overdose Prevention Resources

If you’re considering using drugs or know someone who does, test your product for fentanyl, carry naloxone, and know the signs of an overdose.

Naloxone and test strips are available at Trickster Cultural Center and Live4Lali. You can prevent deadly fentanyl poisoning.

Be prepared, carry naloxone, and know the signs of an overdose.

You may also consider syringe exchange. Safe needle exchange in Illinois can be found here. 

Illinois and 46 other states have enacted Good Samaritan laws, which provide immunity to those who call emergency services when experiencing or witnessing an overdose.
